Mexican Hat, the town
(population 88, elevation 4400 ft.),
is named after this formation,
which resembles a sombrero.
This 2500 ton boulder is sixty feet wide
and twelve feet thick.
It balances on a 200 foot cliff
and can be seen from a 17-mile loop road.
