Howard's Pub is one of the more popular
dining establishments on Ocracoke.
I'm wondering what this bamboo/corn-like
plant out front is.
Could it be sugar cane?
We were immediately seated in
the screened-in porch.
Service was very prompt and friendly.
Mr. Hawthorne ordered the Taco Salad
with seasoned ground beef,
crispy lettuce, grilled peppers and onions,
tomatoes, and cheese,
all served in a huge crispy fried tortilla shell
with sides of guacamole, sour cream, and salsa.
I had the Caesar salad with blackened tuna
seared in a mixture of Cajun spices.
The Caesar was very good
and came with a liberal sprinkling of croutons.
I had ordered my tuna medium rare
and when our server brought it
he was concerned that it might be too rare for me.
It wasn't.
And it was very good.
A crispy side of onion rings completed our meal.
