In Fairfield,
we inquired at the hotel
about restaurants.
We were wisely steered to the
Athenian Grill,
on the waterfront in Suison City, California,
just a few miles away.

While waiting for a dinner to arrive,
I strolled around the waterfront to shoot pictures.

Mr. Hawthorne had the Greek Salad -
lettuces, cucumbers, feta,
sun-dried tomatoes, pine nuts,
onions, and a delicious Greek dressing.

I ordered the Mezethakia.
It's a combination appetizer plate featuring
spanakopita - layers of phyllo, spinach, and feta;
tyropita - basically the spanakopita sans spinach;
keftethes - juicy meatballs;
dolmades - grape leaves stuffed with a ground meat mixture
accented by the judicious addition of fresh mint;
and a cool, complimentary mixture of kalamata olives,
green peppers, red onions, tomatoes, and cucumbers
with a chunk of feta on the side
and the herbed olive oil for dipping.
I loved having so many different options on my plate -
all of which were good.
I think I'll have to make this
when I get home.

This has been one of our favorite meals so far.
