October 22. Driving To ... Chinle, Arizona.

We left Winslow and continued our adventure through Arizona.
Somebody tell me, is this a baby volcano?
I love ... formations.
And damn long roads.
We're finally getting to a town ... of sorts.
This is all Indian Reservation.
And these are their homes.
And the Hawthornes blithely drive by.
We have a Holiday Express keyed into the Garmin. As we drove up to it ... I prettymuchreallydidntlikeitatall ... but drove in anyway. This is Indian Territory. Dry. And I really want some wet tonight. C'est mal.
It's stark here. And there are all these dogs. One's recently pregnant. There are other mature male dogs in there, and a bunch of babies that look like both the above. I find out now, that not only is my fairly new Nikon D80 screwing up on the focus, but there's also an EXPOSURE problem. To wit:
... and wit agin:
I must override the auto-exposure thingie, which is broken ...
... so's I can get the doggies properly exposed. They were here when we arrived. They were here when we left. I hope someone takes them all in when it gets cold.
