October 18. Grand Canyon. South Rim.

Entering the South Rim. The average distance across the canyon, "as the condor flies," is ten miles. However, traveling from the North Rim to the South Rim is 215 miles - about a five-hour drive.
This is the Watchtower, 26 miles east of Grand Canyon Village. Built in 1932, the 70 foot tower was made of stone and mortar and was inspired by prehistoric towers found in the Four Corners region.
