The Hawthornes Are In Vegas.

The Hawthornes went as far west as Vegas.
We had planned to continue to California,
but decided to turn back because of the fires.
We cut our trip short.
Three weeks instead of two months.
I'd had enough.

Vegas was quiet.

Every time we've been to Vegas,
we've had a good meal at Bobby Flay's Mesa Grill in Caesar's Palace.
This was no exception.

The bread basket is always good.
This time they had a jalapeno-studded bread which I must duplicate at home.

I ordered the Shrimp Tamale with Roasted Garlic Cream Sauce.
TIGER SHRIMP + ROASTED GARLIC
CORN TAMALE *
Corn - Cilantro Sauce
19.

It's on the appetizer menu and was more than enough for me.

I've been wanting to try this ever since I saw it on one of those Food Network programs, "The Best Thing I Ever Ate."  Wasn't the best thing I've ever eaten, but it was good.

As a matter of fact, I'd made it myself (rather, my version of it) not too long ago.

Rosie's Tamales
and
Shrimp.

Mr. Hawthorne got the Mesa Burger.
MESA BURGER *
Double Cheddar Cheese
Grilled Vidalia Onion + Horseradish Mustard
served with Southwestern Fries
18.

Oh... those fries!

This is the quietest I've ever seen the casinos.

Would have liked to have seen Elton.
Mr. H. saw him a hundred years ago in Greensboro, NC.
That was the night somebody in the audience threw a hash pipe and hit Elton in the head.

Mr. Hawthorne wanted to buy this little frock for me,
but I already had something similar.
So I declined.

We left lunch and walked a bit.

Ahhh...
She spots her mark!
  Negotiations on the Strip.

Heh!  SCORE!!

And then we left Vegas...
