Hate In My Back Yard.

This is a difficult post for me to write.
I need to keep my emotions in check and use reason.
Yeah.
Try and do that.

I saw this on Facebook this morning:

This group preys on your emotions.  Do not let them.

From the Outer Banks Sentinel:  http://www.obsentinel.com/news/notorious-church-labeled-hate-group-plans-demonstration-at-ffhs/article_53f3f250-ff08-11e4-ae5d-e7a116ed38a1.html

I admire the Outer Banks Voice for their stance on this:  http://outerbanksvoice.com/2015/05/20/what-protest-a-self-aggrandizing-staged-event-is-not-news/

I am sickened and saddened by all this.

Facebook has been buzzing all day about it.
OBX Locals
Good Neighbors of the Outer Banks

Here's my 2 cents:

Ignore them.  Do NOT feed the BEAST.
These people are shit-stirrers.

Imagine the impact it would make if nobody on the Outer Banks showed up for their little party. If nobody shows up, then they only have their own choir to preach to.  What a statement that would make if not one person showed up for their hate-fest.  These people thrive on controversy and emotions.  Do NOT give it to them.  Stay away!  Let the Hampton Roads media come on down and film a bunch of hatred from Kansas, but no Outer Bankers in the mix.

Where's freakin' Jim Cantori/Cannelloni when you need him?

Don't feed a troll.  Ignore it.   If there's no food, the troll will leave.

Anyone that organizes any type of counter-protest is just fueling the fire.

And First Flight Schools and concerned parents of students, why not delay school for an hour or two? If a snowflake is spotted in Currituck, schools are either delayed or closed.  If there are high winds, schools are delayed and rightly so.  It appears there's going to be a lot of "blow" June 1.  Keep our children safe and delay school.

Reminds me of the Cherokee story:
An old Cherokee is teaching his grandson about life:
A fight is going on inside me, he said to the boy. It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves. One is evil - he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego. The other is good - he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith. This same fight is going on inside you - and inside every other person, too.
The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather,Which wolf will win?
The old Cherokee simply replied, The one you feed.

That is all.

No.  It's not.

Edited to add:
In my little rant, I suggested delaying school that the morning of June 1, because of the 7:40-8:10 demonstration time from Westboro. According to a message issued by Dare County Schools,  the demonstration time can be changed. So there's no reason to delay opening.

I say, give the kids a day off!
It's Monday morning, fer cryin' out loud.
People don't need this.
A message from DARE COUNTY SCHOOLS
As many of you already know, a group which calls itself the Westboro Baptist Church has applied to the Town of Kill Devil Hills for a permit to hold a demonstration on town property on Monday, June 1, 2015. We have been informed by representatives of the Kill Devil Hills Police Department that the protesters will be confined to an area on the northeast side of Veterans Drive, just south of Colington Road. Another group which is called the Celebrate OBX Safe School Zone will be confined to an area between Veterans Park and Aviation Park, south of the Westboro group.
The permit for Westboro covers the time period from 7:40 AM to 8:10 AM. The permit is for 18 participants. The Celebrate OBX Safe School Zone may have 100 participants. Both groups must remain on the sidewalk. They are not allowed to use loudspeakers. The Kill Devil Hills Police Department will assign 18 or more uniformed officers to enforce town ordinances and to assist with traffic flow. The Dare County Sheriff’s Department will assign deputies on bicycle to patrol the school campuses to prevent trespassing.
In considering options for the operation of school on Monday, June 1, it has come to our attention that the time that a demonstration begins may be altered just as the time that school begins may be altered. In light of that, schools will operate on a regular schedule. Buses will be rerouted to avoid the northern end of Veterans Drive.
For parents who do not wish to pass the northern end of Veterans Drive, you may wish to use Baum Street or any connecting street south of Colington Road as you approach and depart the school campuses.
For parents who wish to avoid driving to school during the time period of the planned demonstration, all three schools will open their doors for students who wish to arrive early on Monday, June 1, beginning at 7:00 AM. Cafeterias will also be open. For bus riders, breakfast times will be unchanged. All classes will begin at the normal time.
If you have questions about this message, please contact your school principal.
Thank you.

I've been saying the same thing since I first saw the letter. Ignore them, they'll go away!
