I was so close to The French Laundry, yet so very far away.
The carrot was dangled in front of me.
Then snatched away.
After leaving Yountville and The French Laundry,
the Hawthornes arrived in Fairfield, California, for the evening.
I got out of our vehicle and looked around me,
surveying my surroundings.
Life is mocking me.
As if to add insult to injury,
within walking distance of the hotel is ...
... a Taco Bell ...

That is just sad. I think the only thing that would make it worse would be if there had been a McD's nearby.
