Rosie Makes Pear Sauce.

Sometimes you need soft food.
Call it baby food if you must,
but it's comforting.
And apparently I needed it.
When it comes to nourishment,
I always listen to my body.
My body wanted soft.

And the planets were all lined up,
the tide was just right,
the tilt of the earth was jaunty,
and my across-the-canal-neighbor, Gervais,
called and asked if we wanted all the pears we could have.

Yes.

Mr. Hawthorne drove over and came back
with a five-gallon bucket of pears.

The first thing I made was pear sauce.
I peeled, cored, and sliced 4 or 5 pears
and dropped them into a small saucepan
with the juice of one lemon in it.
Then I added about 1/4 - 1/3 cup sugar.
Cook over low for a while, occasionally stirring,
letting the pears cook down, until you get the texture you like.
For a smoother, less chunky sauce, cook longer.

Enjoy on a piece of toast.

Happy tummy.
