It's A Hawthorne Breakfast.

Top o' the morning to you!
 It's breakfast at the Hawthornes
and Rosie is making "special oatmeal."
By "special oatmeal," I mean "attended to" oatmeal.

I read an article somewhere or other about making oatmeal.
It suggested soaking the oats in water for 10 minutes,
then slowly cooking them,
adding in hot water as needed.
Gradually.
Stirring in.
Letting the oats absorb.
Think risotto here.

So that's what I did.
And I always use steel-cut oats.

After cooking the oats in this manner,
I added my usual oatmeal accoutrements.

Pour the oatmeal into a warm dish.
(Don't want to shock the oats with a cold dish.)
Add a spoonful of unsalted butter,
a drizzle of pure maple syrup,
a swizzle of cream,
a sprinkle of turbinado sugar,
and a dropping of strawberries and blackberries.

And start your day off beautifully.

A very good morning to you.
