I'm Tired Of Baking.

Rosie's taking a break from the bake today
and shooting pictures of my Granddogs.

 Junior wants his bowl filled.

 Now.

 Junior and Beau, chillin'.

Beau loves pulling Middle Hawthorne
on his skateboard.

Middle Hawthorne is exceeding the posted speed limit.

 Nobody messes with Junior's bowl.

Junior is sporting the Christmas collar
I made for Rosie, my first dog, a black lab.
Mr. Hawthorne and I had a Christmas Partay
in 1984 before we moved to the Outer Banks.
I made the collar for Rosie
so she could wear it at the party.
Beau and Junior share the sofa.

Dixie proudly wore that collar.
Dixie passed the collar to Junior.
Dixie loved Junior
and Junior loved Dixie.
It was beautiful.

Beau likes to relax in front of the fireplace.

Youngest Hawthorne and Junior returned home the other night. Here's the happy homecoming.

Happy Hawthorne Puppies.

Thank you to all who've sent me messages and healing thoughts for Junior.
As you can see, Junior's resting comfortably with Dixie here. And Dixie is actually allowing contact.
Here are Beau and Junior and Beau just has to rub it in.
Dixie, Junior, and Beau. Giada was in Daughter Hawthorne's bed.
Then Giada came out to spend some time with Junior.
Dixie likes to go back in the hall way
to get away from everyone. Sometimes it works.
Sometimes it doesn't. Giada and Beau playing nicely.
Bo-Bo is smiling.
Beau and Junior chilling on the cool tile, waiting for Middle and Youngest Hawthornes.
Dixie tolerating Beau in her personal space.
And here are some videos of the puppies being puppies. Enjoy.

Little Junior's Day. And You Think Yours Was Bad ?!!?

Little Junior had an adventure today.
Here's Junior last night in his favorite position. Youngest Hawthorne and I took Junior for a little ride this morning. And he was soooooo excited. He spent the drive with his head out the window, a smile on his face, his ears flapping in the breeze. That would be Junior, not YH.
Uh oh.
No. NO! NOOO!! Wait a minute! I wanna get back in Nana's truck!!
Youngest Hawthorne picked Junior up this afternoon after his "procedure." Beau and Dixie immediately ran to greet him before he even got up the steps. (Missed the shot with Dixie. She took a sniff, didn't like the smell, and ran off.)
Junior was placed on his comfy pillow to rest and all three doggies came over to sniff and offer their condolences. That's sweet. They all knew.
Junior moved off the pillow to nap in the sunshine and Beau went over to keep him company.
Sorry, Junior, but it had to be done.

More Of The Hawthorne Doggies.

Junior loves Dixie to death, but Dixie does not share the sentiment. This is strange: Dixie is allowing Junior yet again on her pillow.
Awwwwwww, cuuuuuute. Junior's back feet are touching Dixie's tail.
Here's Dixie doing her favorite thing - swimming in her pool. Dixie having more fun in the pool. She likes to splash. More splashy. Middle and Youngest Hawthornes started scuffling out on the deck this morning. Beau thought his Daddy was in peril, so he immediately ran to the slider to bark and try to break through to rescue Middle Hawthorne. Thank goodness he didn't do his battle-cry, which is a thing of beauty. I'll have to video that for you some day because it's truly awesome. The pack mentality kicked in, so all the others started barking even though they had no idea what they were barking at or why. Just another day in the Hawthorne Household. Rosie is stressed. Is it 5 o'clock yet?

The Hawthorne Doggies.

What fun it is in the Hawthorne Household
with all the puppies!
Here are Beau and Giada snuggling together.
Shhh.  They're sleeping.
Nappy time is over and Junior and Giada
are getting a bit rambunctious.
What great fun this is.
Beau is all tuckered out.
Youngest Hawthorne, Junior (black blob in his lap),
and Beau take a rest.
Here's Dixie actually allowing Junior
to share her pillow
and a bit of sunshine.
(They both just came in from swimming
and they like to bask in the sun to dry off.)
The other day, Mr. Hawthorne and I
took Dixie, Giada, and Junior
for a little walk.
Poor little June Bug
tires out easily.
He was having trouble running with the big dogs,
so he just collapsed on the side of the road
for a little rest.
All he needed was a little down time,
then he was good to go.
Mr. Hawthorne tried to give Junior some water.
Junior finally decided to get up and walk back home.
I think he preferred walking to Mr. Hawthorne's water-boarding technique.

All My Little Puppy Dogs.

Here's a video of Dixie being silly. Check out her snarl
when Giada comes up. I keep the Windex company in business.
Beau just came over and sat on top of Giada.
Sleepy puppies. Here's Junior.
Beau.
And Giada.

The Hawthornes' Doorbell And Alarm System.

With Dixie here,
I've never needed to worry about anybody
sneaking up on the house.
Her usual perch is at the top of the front steps
where she monitors any activity going on
in the cul-de-sac
and immediately lets me know about it.
Mr. Hawthorne actually had an ADT security system
installed last year,
but I really don't think it's necessary.
Please check out this video of all the dogs
when Good Neighbor Bob came to visit last evening.
Now Bobby is one of Dixie's favorite friends.
And all the puppies know Bob.
But this is the pack mentality in action.
They all feed off of one another.
And that wire across the floor is to the vacuum cleaner
which is never put away,
since we need to vacuum the dog hairs up
maybe 6-7 times a day.
Now, with all that going on,
do you think any crook/burglar/thief
in his right mind would dare try to get into our home?
Where is Cesar Millan when I need him?
We got the dogs settled down
and then the puppies went back to
their cute mode.
Like I've said,
it's gonna be a looooooong summer.

The Hawthorne Puppies.

Beau, Giada, and Junior have a good time. And have some more fun. I'm really going to have to video all the dogs when someone knocks on our door. That? Would be freakin' AWESOME!

Dogs, Dogs, Dogs, And Then Some.

I love my children. Really I do. And all three are now home from graduate school and colleges. With their dogs. And I love their dogs. Really I do. I am a Dog Person. That said. They've been here 2 days and something's gotta change, else I'm outta here like a bat outta hell.
Here's Sweet Dixie. I am her human. She owns me totally, and has for the past almost eleven years. She deserves her place in this home.
And she doesn't like this turn of events what with all the newbies here.
This is Junior, Youngest Hawthorne's puppy, rolling around on Dixie's old pillow. (I had to buy Dixie a new one because of all the puppy smells on her old one.)
This is Beau. Middle Hawthorne's puppy. He's an American Bull Dog. And he's sweet as he can be. He loves Mr. Hawthorne and tries to climb up in his lap and lick his ears every chance he gets.
Here are Bo-Bo and June-Bug. That's what I call them.
Dixie is lying in the kitchen, guarding her food.
She appears to be stressed. No shit. She takes her cues from me.
Middle and Youngest Hawthornes arrived home with Beau and Junior Tuesday afternoon. Daughter Hawthorne arrived with Giada on Thursday afternoon. Giada and Junior had missed each other terribly during their 48 hours away from each other
(Giada and Junior live together.), so they're making up for lost time here, as Bo Bo comes up to sniff Giada's butt.
Frolicking puppies.
More puppy fun.
Junior and Giada having Puppy Moments.
Giada and Beau taking naps.
Junior and Dixie's Ducky passed out.
Dixie. Pissed off at the shenanigans I've allowed to go on in HER house. I've noticed that when the little rascals are all cavorting,
Dixie retreats to the kitchen, her pillow,
or off in another area,
trying to distance herself from the young upstarts.
When the puppies are asleep, outdoors, or somehow away,
that's when Dixie gets up and active.
I've been trying to spend extra time with her
and take more of our special walks,
all of which seems to calm her (and me) down.
This is a stressful period for all of us,
meaning Mr. Hawthorne, Dixie, and me.
And we're all trying to deal with it the best we can.
What a beautiful face!
How could you not love that face?
More happy puppies.
Dixie likes to get away from the other doggies so she goes into the kitchen. But Giada, being the only other female dog, likes to position herself near Dixie. Even though Dixie hates it,
she tolerates it.
The last two photos and the next two happened within five seconds.
"If I close my eyes and go to sleep
I'll wake up later and realize this has all
been a very bad dream."
Bo-Bo asleep.
Junior, on Dixie's pillow, asleep. Dixie ain't gonna like that.
This goes on ALL.DAY.LONG. It's going to be a loooooooong summer.
