We finally made it across the United States to Seattle. Took us 3 weeks. First place we went was Greenwood Memorial Park in Renton, Washington.. Why, you ask?
The Jimi Hendrix Memorial. After Jimi Hendrix died in 1970 while touring through London, James "Al" Hendrix, Jimi's father, requested that Jimi's body be brought back to his birthplace of Seattle, Washington. Al Hendrix barely had enough money to bring back Jimi's body, but he wanted him to be buried at a new family plot at Greenwood. The burial site consisted of five plots - one for Jimi, the first to be buried, half-brother Leon, half-sister Janie, and Al Hendrix and wife Ayako "June." Fourteen years later, in 1984, Al's mother Nora Hendrix was included in the family plot.
The story of life is quicker than the wink of an eye The story of love is hello and goodbye Until we meet again
Angel came down from heaven yesterday She stayed with me just long enough to rescue me And she told me a story yesterday, About the sweet love between the moon and the deep blue sea And then she spread her wings high over me She said she's gonna come back tomorrow And I said, "Fly on my sweet angel, Fly on through the sky, Fly on my sweet angel, Tomorrow I'm gonna be by your side" Sure enough this morning came unto me Silver wings silhouetted against the child's sunrise And my angel she said unto me, "Today is the day for you to rise Take my hand, you're gonna be my man, You're gonna rise" And then she took high over yonder And I said, "Fly on my sweet angel, Fly on through the sky, Fly on my sweet angel, Forever I will be by your side"
Well she's walking through the clouds With a circus mind that's running round Butterflies and zebras And moonbeams and fairy tales That's all she ever thinks about Riding with the wind. When I'm sad, she comes to me With a thousand smiles, she gives to me free It's alright she says it's alright Take anything you want from me, Anything. Fly on little wing, Yeah yeah, yeah, little wing
Well, I stand up next to a mountain And I chop it down with the edge of my hand Well, I stand up next to a mountain Chop it down with the edge of my hand Well, I pick up all the pieces and make an island Might even raise just a little sand 'Cause I'm a voodoo child Lord knows I'm a voodoo child I didn't mean to take you up all your sweet time I'll give it right back to you one of these days I said, I didn't mean to take you up all your sweet time I'll give it right back to you one of these days And if I don't meet you no more in this world Then I'll, I'll meet you in the next one And don't be late, don't be late 'Cause I'm a voodoo child Lord knows I'm a voodoo child I'm a voodoo child
