May 10, 2012. Driving Down Pacific Coast Highway 1. From Fort Bragg, CA., to Santa Rosa, CA.

The Hawthornes are driving, driving, driving today.

Enjoy the views down
Pacific Coast Highway 1.

Mr. Hawthorne stops once in a while
for Rosie to shoot pictures.

Enjoy the pretty.

Only in Cowlifornia do the cows enjoy ocean front dining.

I need to do some pruning
when I get back home.

Point Arena lighthouse.

I found these wild irises.
Stuck my hand in there so you can see the size.

They're tiny!

I tried to get the pelicans in flight.

Talk about your contented cows.

The woman driver ahead of us
is using both hands to fix her hair.
Scary.

We're on a horrible road.
California roads are the worst!
There's a straight drop down.
About 1500 feet down.
At least.
I kept telling Mr. Hawthorne to keep his eyes on the road.
Do NOT look down.

 It's back and forth
and cutbacks and hairpin turns.

Most of the time there were no guard rails,
like that little piece of metal is going to stop a 2-ton Avalanche.

It's beautiful,
but it's scary.

We're approaching Santa Rosa now.

This is Rosie Territory.
WINE!

I think I need a Dramamine now.

Pretty pictures.

Thanks, Mar.

Mr. Hawthorne white knuckles it on these vertical drop offs. He refuses to look. Which is just fine with me,
since our lives depend upon it.

The only way I could travel on that road would be as the driver. Otherwise I would spew like a hot Dr. Pepper.

Beautiful photos!

Thank you, TortieTat.

Let's just say Mr. Hawthorne has exercised certain muscles which have been neglected for some time.

(He can hold a dime between his cheeks now.)
