I know you've all been anxiously anticipating what the Hawthornes
have been eating this weekend.
So wait no longer.
Friday night I shucked oysters.
Actually 2 pans full, since friends down the street came trick or treating and their kid wanted to sit and watch TV and they wanted a few beers, so I needed to make an extra pan full.

Here's my secret topping:
paprika
parmesan cheese
sugar
Well, I guess it's not much of a secret anymore.

Next, melted butter, garlic, and parsley.
Oysters go on the grill and butter goes on top.
I love my flare-ups.
Next, my secret mixture gets sprinkled on.
Oysters get grilled a little longer.

Here they are.
Salty, sweet, and oceany.
I love me some oysters.

Saturday, we were happily surprised by a visit from Daughter Hawthorne and Giada.
Dixie is coping.

We're having grilled marinated chicken thighs tonight
and here are the ingredients for the marinade:
cider vinegar
coarse-grained mustard
olive oil
brown sugar
garlic cloves
lime juice
orange juice
salt and pepper

I mixed all the ingredients in a bag, then added the chicken.
I saved the marinade, heated it to a boil,
and used it to add onto the grilled chicken.
And Mr. Hawthorne expertly grilled the thighs.
Succulent, juicy chicken thighs with that wonderful grilled flavor,
wild rice, and lima beans.
Just plain, simple, good eats.
