My Day.

Oh man. I'm tired. Mr. Hawthorne was apparently having his monthly visitor this morning and started complaining about my lack of organization, my habit of finding a hole and stuffing crap in it. BitchBitchBitch. Yadayadayada. He was starting to piss me off. He was bitchin' about the stack of crossword puzzles on the floor and my numerous notebooks of recipes and all the loose recipes left in the stack on the floor, and all the books (French Laundry, Alinea, Dorrie Greenspan, Julia Child) sitting on my banquette. And why didn't I take all my recipe notebooks and put them in the cabinets above my computer? And why don't I take all those books and put them in my above-computer cabinets? Because the cabinets are full of stuff? That's not an excuse! Apparently I'm a procrastinating slob and there's no excuse for my sorry ways. You see how this is going. Man was on a mission. A mission to piss me off. So that I would do something. He left for work and I told him not to come home until he could play nice. Damn. He got to me. So I started cleaning. Cleaned all the kitchen counters. Cleaned out the two drawers at my computer desk. Then cleaned out and organized the cabinets over said computer. Then I started on the crap on the floor he was ticked off about. Crosswords? Filed and put away. Notebooks of recipes? Semi-organized. I'm not a miracle worker. This is going to take more than one day. Loose recipes, clippings? All put into those plastic, see-through, sheet protectors. All my recipes are in those sheet protectors. I have a semi-system for my recipes. I have notebooks in which I've sorted my recipes. Just figured out today I need several more notebooks to get it right. One for salads, one for soups, one for veggies, one for entrees, one for Christmas baking, one for desserts, one for seafood, one for appetizers, one for breads, one for sauces. And I'm sure I'm missing something. It's quite an undertaking. I came across so many recipes I've been clipping and saving all these many years. And I'm excited about trying new recipes that I have just looked at and know will be good. I just need to file everything in those notebooks. Then maybe, just maybe, I could get them on my computer, and actually write a cookbook.
