Update On Middle Hawthorne's Burglary.

Wow, is this ever frustrating. As you know, Middle Hawthorne returned to his house in Greensboro on New Year's Eve and discovered he'd been broken into. He called 911 and it took the police over 2 hours to get there. Over the past few days, Middle Hawthorne has been doing his own bit of investigation. Certain neighborhood children spilled the beans about whom they had overheard planning the break-in. So, MH knows who-dun-it. Couple of 13 and 14 year old kids who live 2 houses over. The other neighborhood children actually saw Middle Hawthorne's stuff at their house. Now, here's the kicker. Middle Hawthorne can't get the police detective to do anything. Mr. Hawthorne even called the police department in Greensboro today. Seems they have maybe 9 detectives with case loads of 30-40 incidents. And Middle Hawthorne's case will not even be a case until it is assigned next Monday. Mr. Hawthorne was transferred to a Corporal So & So's voice mail, but he hasn't returned his call. Well, that's just great. And Middle Hawthorne has since found out that the little bastard sold his 32-inch wide screen LG TV to his uncle for $200.

I'm sure the detectives will get to it when they can.... better luck getting a resolution with all the details he'll be able to give when they finally can get around to dealing with him. Ain't their fault they're being overwhelmed right now (although I would not doubt several higher levels of red tape that keep them from being able to handle things quicker... but I also suspect most police departments aren't letting people use any overtime unless it is a major case with all the budget crunches).

A big UGH on the whole thing... but good for Middle H for keeping his ears open and getting details. Make sure he's recording not just the names, but also dates/times he talks to people and hears things. His stuff is gone and ain't gonna get any less gone right now... but he can do what he can to make sure the people responsible get caught.

And encourage that boy to start looking for a new place to live.

That's despicable. And what's up with the uncle buying hot property? From a 14 year old kid, no less. Did MH have renter's insurance?

At least you can point the police to the tv (and the uncle would have to know that it was stolen goods, so they can nab him too!).
