Several weeks ago,
my friend, Ticky,
of
Reinventing A Boomer blogdom,
came to visit
and I've had this post in draft
hanging around since then.
Since I'm in Danville now
and not doing all that much cooking,
I'm pulling this out and posting.
And yes.
It's another pizza.
Because one just can't get enough pizza.
On Friday,
I started preparing the meal
for Ticky.
First, the pizza dough.
I am doubling my dough since
I want 2 crusts for pizza -
one for Friday dinner
and another for Mr. Hawthorne's
surprise party on Sunday.

Ingredients for my bread dough:
2 cups warm water
2 packages yeast
1 TB sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp salt
4 - 5 cups bread flour
First, add yeast to the warm water.

Sprinkle the sugar over top,
stir, and wait ...

... until the yeast "proofs."
It gets puffy and bubbly and foamy.
This means it's alive
and the dough will rise.

I added 2 eggs to the proofed yeast and mixed well.
I got this picture just as the first egg plopped into the yeast.

Gradually add in the flour,
1/2 cup at a time,
forking it in.

I know bread making may be intimidating to people, but it doesn't need to be.
Xmaskatie suggested that perhaps videos would be helpful to novices at breadmaking,
so you have her to thank (or blame) for the following. Hope this helps.

I'm making two pizza crusts
and one boule.

I separated my dough into 3 parts.

I oiled my pans and put a slab of dough on each one
and started pressing the dough out to the edges.
I like that little bubble.

That little dough ball I wrapped up and put in the fridge
rose and pushed out a hole in the plastic.

Awwwww.
Dixie's letting Junior share her pillow.

Our finished pizza.
Crispy, crunchy crust.
And delicious toppings -
cheeses, pesto, tomatoes, sausage,
more cheese, and Italian seasoning.

Hee.
Ticky's ready for bed
and look who's waiting for her.
*whispers*
ReplyDeleteI agree with you Rosie. I would smeared on the pesto first. But then, what do I know?
It was a very good pizza. And I'm glad Mr. Hawthorne liked his wife-beating paddle. What...that's not what he was supposed to use it for?
Oh, and btw, I thank you for not including the video of my luscious cleavage.
