Dixie Gets A Bath And The Hawthornes Leave On A Road Trip.

Thursday afternoon. Whoo-hooo! Dixie? Wanna bath? Yes, Mama!
Feels SOOOOO good. Dixie didn't want to get out.
Dixie is loving her bath. Problem is ... her back legs. I used to tell her to stand up and she would. Because she could.
It's not working for her now. Her back legs are giving out on her. I had to lift her rear up to help her get out of the tub.
Dixie loves her after-bath routine. Hot towels out of the dryer.
What a happy doggie! Dixie takes a happy nap. Friday morning, Mr. Hawthorne and I left the OBX. He to go to his Mommie's for Mother's Day. I to go to Maxine's for a romantic weekend.
As usual, we got the damn drawbridge at Alligator River. There was one sailboat about 1/2 mile out. Mr. Hawthorne took this opportunity to make a new friend. As I've said before, the drawbridge should be on a ferry schedule. Certain times of day, the drawbridge will open. If you're not there, then tough titties. The drawbridge should not be at the whim of boaters. Over thirty cars were stopped for ONE boat to enter. And this isn't even the season.
There's the damn boat.
Closing in.
Closer.
After being stopped for about 15 minutes, we see the boat leaving the other side of the bridge.
I looked a bit closer on the truck in front of us. He had a TUNNEL PERMIT for OCRACOKE-HATTERAS! BWAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAH!! Where can I find me one of those? We had a quick stop in Greensboro to visit the Hawthorne Boys, then Mr. Hawthorne dropped me off at Maxine's in Danville, while he continued on to his Mommie's.
Would you just look at the beautiful pizza Maxine has prepared?
And the salad?
This little cutie showed up at Maxine's backdoor.
I went out and played with this baby. He was wonderful. I want to take him home with me.
He kept coming back to see me.
This dog freakin' loves me.
I want to take this dog home with me. Dixie would not be pleased.
Here's Maxine's wonderful pizza. Zucchini, red pepper, goat cheese.
Flowers from you-know-who's garden.
Oh Marion, I'll take some pics of Maxine's garden for you. Waiting for her to come down and turn off the alarm. It's quite lovely right now with the sunlight streaming through.
