many less than stellar meals during our trip.

which Mr. Hawthorne graciously nuked for me -
nuked leftovers that I was freakin' grateful for,

Poor Mr. Hawthorne.
He just wants to cook a damn meal.

Maybe on your next great road trip you should pack a mini propane grill so you can occasionally cook real food?
Don't think that would work. Only if we had an outdoor exit to ... outdoors.
Most of the time, our egress is through an interior hallway.
Rosie - tailgate! Or or cook in a park! Think outside the box.
