Danville, Virginia Tour of Main Street.

I started this post several days ago and finally finished today. Last weekend, when I was in Danville, I decided to take a little tour of Main Street. I was taking Mama Hawthorne out for a spin and wanted to go down Millionaire's Row and shoot the houses. Unfortunately, all pictures were shot from the confines of Mama Hawthorne's car. The architecture is quite interesting. Please enjoy my Tour of Danville. Oh, and Mama Hawthorne, feel free to correct me anywhere or add any information.

  1. Thank you for those pictures, Rosie. I love old architecture. A few years ago my husband and I traveled to South Carolina. I truly enjoyed looking at all the old houses with their lovely porches (I love porches--I don't have one). We especially enjoyed our day in Charleston and our day in Savannah.

  2. I have a suggestion for your "P" and I'm referring to your cooking the alphabet.
    Paella!
Mr. Xmaskatie made it this afternoon; we had enough to feed a small army, but it was just the 2 of us, plus little katie hoping a shrimp or other tasty morsel would slip off my fork onto the floor. (She was not disappointed.)
It was absolutely delicious, a perfect combination of flavors, and the leftovers (along with some new fresh additions tomorrow) will be even better.

  3. Thanks, xmaskatie. I've actually never done paella. I did do polenta already for P, but that won't stop me for going further. I've made polenta numerous times. The only thing different this time was that I used "polenta" instead of cornmeal. Totally different texture. Tasted the same. Anyways, I'll give it some thought and probably do it. Thanks again.

  5. Oh, notmuchofacook, I just read your profile. Larry McMurtry. Have you read Lonesome Dove? I'd stayed up one night when the mini-series was on. Loved it. Went and bought the book. Super LOVED it.
