I'm quite glad to be back in my own kitchen,
preparing my own food,
and eating it.
First thing we made was a stir fry.
We had some leftover frozen flat iron steak which Mr. Hawthorne very thinly sliced. I marinated it in some soy sauce, a bit of sugar, and vinegar.
In the foreground, I have gingerroot and garlic.
In the back, carrots and my fancy carrot cutter, onions, celery, asparagus from my garden, and red bell pepper.
Stir fry.
Added a bit of water to steam the veggies.
Mr. Hawthorne boiled Somen noodles for about 3 minutes.
I added the meat, ginger, and garlic a little bit at a time.
Poured in a cornstarch slurry.
Added all back in the wok, heated through, and let thicken.
Mr. Hawthorne drizzled some sesame oil in the wok.
Then added in the noodles.
I had a bit of leftover rice to accompany the stir fry.
Ahh.... Good eats.
Actually, the best I've had for 5 days.
And it just gets better.
I agree with you, food almost always tastes better when you make it yourself. I like eating out and all, but it can get old after a while.
ReplyDeleteBasically, Sara, the only reason we go out to eat (when not necessary on a trip) is to pay someone else to clean up the mess.
