Rosie's Saturday - Part 2.

If you remember, I saved the oysters (which I was told to DISCARD) from what I will refer to as the oyster jelly incident. I shucked a few more today, and Mr. Hawthorne began frying.
First, Mr. Hawthorne thinly sliced sweet potatoes and fried them up. Then he dredged the oysters in flour seasoned with Old Bay seasoning, followed by a quick dip in some beaten egg, and finally a dredge through a flour and semolina flour mixture.
Oysters and sweet potatoes draining on paper towel.
While Mr. H. was frying oysters, I whipped up a quick coleslaw. Thinly sliced cabbage. Shredded carrots. Minced celery. Thinly sliced radicchio. Sugar. Cider vinegar. Mayonnaise. Salt and pepper.
Here's the oyster joos. Should I save it for another French Laundry recipe?
And here's our lunch. Coleslaw. Fried sweet potatoes. Fried oysters. And from left to right - tartar sauce, remoulade sauce, and mango/habanero/pineapple salsa.
Perfect, delicious lunch.
