Sunday. Day 5. We Return Home.

Mr. Hawthorne and I left Burlington on Sunday morning. Day 5 of our journey. And yet another crappy continental breakfast. We arrived in Plymouth, NC, where we always eat at China Buffet. Then, we took a quick trip to R*per, to see Mr. and Mrs. Xmaskatie and Katie. Hey, lookie, Xmaskatie. I'm preserving your privacy by using the asterisk. Don't want any stalkers now.
After a nice visit with xmaskatie, we left. I, uncomfortably, see irrigation units ahead. Remember, my right window is open almost all the way. I express my concern to Mr. Hawthorne about the upcoming irrigation. He just looks at me and smiles. "Don't worry," he says, "I'll drive slowly."
We approach the irrigation system.
Thankfully, the wind is blowing away from my car window.
WHOOT! Wind-blown hair!
I've been driving like this since Saturday. 11 AM. It is now Sunday. 3 PM.
I really like my hair here.
Scuppernong River and lone boat and tree. Check it out, here.
We stop in Columbia for the cheapest gas along the way. Mr. Hawthorne cleans the windshield.
Check out the gas prices. $2.88 for regular.
Oops. Within minutes, our window is sullied.
On 64, we pull off to buy sweet potatoes. A bushel for $14.
All Righty... I've finally deciphered this. It says: "HONOR BOX NOTICE PLEASE PUT MONEY IN BOX" And head home to Colington Island.
I'm concerned about my coiffure.
No thanks. And it DOESN'T taste like chicken.
Last bridge going home.
Dixie is happy to see us. And immediately goes to eat her food, so we won't eat it. Later, she came outside with me and did her happy dance. Wish I'd had my camera for that.
