Just Some Miscellany.

Whoot! When I got back home last Sunday, there was a box waiting for me. And apparently Xmaskatie, who was so graciously Dixie- and house-sitting for us, didn't see the big flourescent green sticker on the side of the box, saying: REFRIGERATE UPON ARRIVAL Not to worry, Xmaskatie, It's all good. It was my Pom Wonderful I won from the contest I entered on Judy's Kitchen.
A nice note from Diana, The Pom Blogger.
And three coupons for free bottles. I haven't even seen this brand in my local markets. I'll have to look again.
Cute little bottles.
And last, for the home cook who has everything, I give you this gadget. Thanks to my friend Marion, who alerted me to the Buttermate. Does anyone really need one of these? I don't think so. It's not like I don't use the whole stick when I'm cooking. Doesn't everyone? Remember the salad shooter from several years back and the deluge of commercials for it right before Christmas? I was scared to death someone was going to get me one of those things. Thank goodness, I dodged that bullet. I don't know. In retrospect, the salad shooter doesn't seem half bad.

HEY! I have a salad shooter that my mother gave me years ago and I like it, I really really like it.

The juice is in the produce section. I splurged one day on a bottle of the pomegranate-blueberry and it was most excellent. Liked the bottle so much that I rinsed it out and have been using it as my water bottle at work for about 2 months now.

1. Your house was cold enough. I could have made ice cubes in that stairwell.
2. Your fridge was full.
3. I didn't want to be nosey and read your box.
4. May I try some when I visit next week, please?

Xmaskatie, You'll have to call Mr. Hawthorne and get him to save a bottle or two for you.

I prefer to keep my house on the cool side. It's much healthier.

And I had PLENTY OF SNUGGLIES for you!

Whenever a recipe calls for an amount of butter less than the entire stick, I just eat the rest of the stick like a big ol' greasy Popsicle. ;)

A miniature guillotine for my butter is very low on the list of kitchen stuff I want.

Ok.... since I know I couldn't serve it to the hubby for IUOF (Inappropriate Use Of Fruit) there is a recipe I'd love to hear about....

Thanks for the recipe, MrsVJW.
I'll be working on chili today, but will certainly try it soon.

Someone has also asked me to do pig ears (I'm looking at you Orchidgal)
but think I'll try the pork first.

I'll still do the ears. I just have to be in the mood.

Congrats again on the contest win.

Oh, and I keep my house cold (65 to 66 degrees) too. I figure that's why they make sweaters and throws.
