I received a phone call this afternoon from
Xmaskatie.
She was a tad upset with me,
since she had sent me a stream of emails,
some requesting responses,
and I hadn't responded.
She felt I was dissing her.
We worked out our problems
and we're still best buds and everything.
What was happening was that she sent me a slew of emails to my charter address and I didn't receive a one of them. I told her to try sending them to my
rosiehawthorne@aim.com email address
and I received them immediately.
I kept going back to Outlook with my other address
and hitting on Send/Receive.
Nada.
I've also noticed in the past few weeks,
lots of times when Xmaskatie would send me an email,
the sent time would be at, say 10:17 am,
and the received time would be at 5:43pm.
HUH?
So, enough of this.
I called Charter Communications.
It took 6 phone calls until I finally got a human being.
I kept getting cut off
with a fast busy signal.
First, I had to hit one to speak English.
(That just kills me right there.)
Then I waited through the menu
and hit 3 to talk about Internet problems.
Then I got the helpful, happy lady on a recording
who asks me questions,
and cheers me on as I provide answers for her.
"Very good. We're almost there now."
Finally, over her calmly asking me stuff,
I yell into the phone,
"Give me an effin' human being!!!!"
Robotic voice: "Would you like to speak to an agent?"
"YES!!!!"
"One moment, please."
I wait and wait and wait
and finally get someone to whom English is a 3rd or 4th language.
I explain to her/him? that I'm not receiving emails
from my friend Xmaskatie.
I tell her/him that I knew she was sending
but they didn't come in,
but they did come in on my AIM account.
Then, (I love this part.)
she/he asks me:
"Are there any other emails you are not getting?"
WTF??
How the hell would I know that?
Reminds me back when I used to work at the bank.
There was some woman who happened to be the wife of my electrician at the time,
and my electrician was a pretty smart guy,
but his wifey was dumb as dirt.
She regularly bounced checks -
to the tune of $300-$400 in bank charges every month.
Banks love customers like her.
She'd come into the bank,
at least 3 times a week,
with her check register in hand.
And she'd have me look up on the computer
all her cleared checks,
while she marked them in her checkbook.
Then she would ask me,
"Can you tell me the ones that haven't cleared yet?"
WELL, JUST LET ME GET MY CRYSTAL BALL OUT!
But, once again, I digress.
Back to whomever I talked to at Charter Communications.
Here's the reason for my glitch in receiving emails:
Charter is doing "system upgrades"
and has "run into issues."
They have "maintenance and system issues to resolve."
People are sending me emails
but they are "pending."
Thank you so much, Charter Communications,
for taking care of my problem.
Or at least for explaining that you are inept.
Would this have anything to do with my "issues?"
Thanks, Marilyn,
for sending more of the love my way.
More of the love.
I'm nothing,
if not about the love.
