Mr. Hawthorne Makes Crispy Rice Treats. Kinda. And A Hurricane Is A'comin'.

This post is from a draft I did August 1.
I'm thinking this is the perfect post for today. Hurricane Earl is approaching and a hurricane is a damn nuisance. You have to do shit to prepare for it. Mr. Hawthorne went out and filled gas cans yesterday and fired up the generator, which we hopefully won't have to use. It works. He and Youngest Hawthorne will take the boat out of the water today. I'll bring in my deck plants at the last minute. We'll throw the pool furniture into the pool. Secure crap on the deck, like the grill, and turn the tables upside-down and secure them. A hurricane is a pain in the ass. So while we're doing last minute preparations for whatever is to come, I give you fluff for my blog. Like I said, this post has been in the wings since August 1. And it's perfect for today. Youngest Hawthorne was having a rice crispies snack yesterday
and started reading the cereal box.
He asked me if I'd make these chewy peanut butter chocolate bars for him. I figgered I could enlist Mr. Hawthorne's help on this since I was in the middle of something else.
Well, here's what Mr. Hawthorne made. I asked him, "But where's the chocolate and the peanut butter?" He replied, "I didn't have all that stuff." Excuse me? I have no idea what he meant by that. At any time, I have about 5 different types of chocolate and several jars of peanut butter on the premises.
I set out to make the bars Youngest Hawthorne requested. Wouldn't want to disappoint. I laid out the bars on a cookie sheet.
I mixed approximately equal amounts of semi-sweet chocolate and peanut butter chips.
Added a tablespoon of buttah.
Nuked it and stirred until smooth.
And plopped this yummy mixture on top of the bars.
Then I topped with more peanut butter chips.
Apparently, these were acceptable since none was left this morning.
ETA: (That's edited to add!) I found out several days later that Fat Rat had absconded with these. I found a hidden Tupperware container of Krispie Treats in his room.

Those look good Auntie Rosie! Wish I could have gotten a few for myself. Good luck with Hurricane Earl this weekend. Hopefully it won't be too bad. :)
