It's All About Oysters. Lucky 12 Tavern.

Every March, on the Outer Banks, we have a wonderful celebration - the Outer Banks Taste of the Beach. My favorite event occurs at Lucky 12 Tavern, which is one of my go-to places for good eats.
SOLD OUT!! It's All About Oysters!
Saturday, March 17 TIME: 2:00pm-4:00pm $35 per person
Join us in the Lucky 12 Tavern kitchen and learn how to shuck 'em, fry 'em, bake 'em, and even grill 'em. (and most of all EAT 'em!) Make a spine tingling cocktail sauce and Lucky 12's own spicy Cajun Remoulade. Wash all those NC salty oysters down with some of the tastiest microbrews on the market. This is one of our most popular events going into its fifth year! Tickets will sell out fast.

Here we are, 2PM Saturday, at Lucky 12.

The small kitchen is packed already. The Hawthornes were the last to arrive.
Owner, Mark Ballog, just popped in a tray of oysters.
The first of many plates of raw oysters. With a sinus-clearing sauce and lemon.
Everyone has fun at Lucky 12.
Mark is setting out the first tray of broiled oysters.
Tomatoes, onions, chives, and champagne vinegar. I think.
I just shoot the pictures.
Mark starting on the fried oysters.

More broiled oysters. Bacon, green pepper and cheeses. And a few fried ones for good measure.
Oh yes.

I went back and got another plate of these, plus some fried oysters.
Mark makes the best remoulade. And I have his recipe.

More broiled oysters. With crab meat and red pepper.

I don't wear the caps. I just shoot the pictures.
Mark's doing my favorite oyster preparation - grilled, with melted butter and Parmesan cheese, hot Hungarian paprika, and sugar.
Get outta my way!

I've had my fill. Thanks, Mark.

Good times!

Lucky 12. Check it out.

See you next year! Well, actually, I'll see you before then.

Thanks for posting pics, Rosie. Hunter and I wanted to come to Taste of the Beach last year. But found out 2 weeks before that we were finally to become adoptive parents. We took our bundle of joy to Lucky 12 Tavern back in October on our vacation. He loves the OBX. We look forward to attending Taste of the Beach one of these days...
