Today, I was the anti-SLop.

I bought 20 pounds of 18/21 greentail shrimp today for $2.75/pound from Wanchese - a small fishing village here on the Outer Banks (named after the Indian Chief Wanchese). Mr.Hawthorne and I just deheaded a few pounds of them, then he expertly cooked about one pound on my little burner. Added some Old Bay Seasoning and made a cocktail sauce (I use Harris Teeter Horseradish- much better than anything else I've tried- It'll clean out your sinuses.) Added ketchup, Lee & Perrins Worcestershire Sauce, lemon juice. Sodalishus!

By the way, it's good I got an extra 20 pounds of shrimp for next year in my freezer, since this storm brewing off the coast will put the kibosh on all shrimping for the rest of the season.
