Mr. & Mrs. H. at Chimney Rock.
All righty. I'm looking at my North Carolina state map and I'm wondering what the heck are the really dark green roads. Checking out the legend, I find out they're the "Scenic Routes." Well, as you know, I'm nothing if not all about the scenery.
I decide Garmin Street Pilot be damned. We'll go to Chimney Rock via the Scenic Route. We get off Highway 40 and immediately start ascending. My ears are popping. I greenly turn to Mr. H. and he says, "I'm dizzy." I say, "I feel like Imonna puke." We both open our respective windows. We are driving up an extremely narrow lane with hairpin turns, going baaack and forrrrth, heeeerrre and theeerrre, uuuuppppp and dooownnnn. I glance at the Garmin GPS with our route marked on it and the route looks suspiciously like my intestinal canal. Scenic route indeed.
We finally get to Chimney Rock.
(BTW, The Last of the Mohicans was shot here.)
This close up is the outcropping of the rock on the other picture.
Instead of hiking up, we take the elevator to go up 26 stories in about 30 seconds.
Here's another view. Check out the people in the little crack.
Here I am on the top. This is not a happy place for me, but I did it for you - my peeps.
Man, it's windy up here. Look at the strap to my digital camera blowing outta my pocket.
Mr. H. told me my legs were shaking. No shit.
Here's Mr. Hawthorne on top of the world.
Here's the view from the top.
More pictures.
I must say, I am truly enjoying this trip.

Ah, Rosie. I've wanted to go there ever since I saw the scenery in Last of the Mohicans. Thanks for taking one for the team!
