Breakfast At The Hawthornes'.

It's Sunday morning, and Mr. Hawthorne cooked breakfast.
Six days a week, he eats oatmeal for breakfast.
OATMEAL.
WALL PAPER PASTE!
Something about his cholesterol.
I tried it and I hated it.
Then I tried it some more.
I thought to myself, "Self, you can make this work."
So, I took his oatmeal, added some apple slices, some raisins, some dried cherries, cooked it up. Then, I added some sourwood honey (the real stuff), some brown sugar, some butter, a sprinkling of grape nuts, and 2 tablespoons of heavy cream.
It's damn near palatable now.

Oh, but back to Mr. Hawthorne's Sunday breakfast.
He can eat anything he wants on Sunday.
Today, he cooked up a slice of country ham, made some cheese grits, and I only buy Byrd Mill
grits (Once you have stone ground grits, you'll never go back. Trust me on this.), and an egg, sunny-side up, a piece of whole wheat toast, and some Red-Eye Gravy.

DEE-LI-SHUS!

What, you don't know what Red-Eye Gravy is?

Probably someone with a serious hangover invented it.
After you cook the ham, you add in some water, some Coca Cola and some coffee.
(I can imagine, at one time, someone probably sprinkled in a BC powder too.)

This is truly some good eats.
