Maxine's Birthday Brownies.

You all remember my dear friend Maxine. Well, Wednesday is her birthday and she anticipates, nay, expects her chocolate brownies every year. So, I made up a batch this morning, packaged them, and will mail them tomorrow. She generally accosts her mailman looking for her brownies.

Here's my mise en place.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

3/4 cup flour
1/4 teas. salt
1/2 cup butter
3 oz. Nestle Unsweetened Chocolate
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1-2 teas. vanilla extract
3/4 cup chopped walnuts

Flour and cocoa an 8" square baking pan.
I use cocoa instead of flour for chocolate cakes and brownies since it adds a bit more chocolatey flavor and you don't have the white flour on the finished product.

Melt butter and unsweetened chocolate.

Whup eggs and add sugar gradually.

Pour in the vanilla extract.

Gradually add the chocolate/butter mixture in.

Finally add the flour.

Fold in the walnuts.

Pour into prepared pan.
And bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 20-24 minutes.
I baked for 22 minutes.

After baking, immediately sprinkle on Nestle's Toll House Semi Sweet Chocolate Morsels
and let them melt.

I made the mistake one time of substituting Food Lion's Semi Sweet Chocolate Morsels.
Trust me. Use the real thing.

Spread melted chocolate evenly over brownies.
When cool, slice into squares.

Then I melted white chocolate which isn't chocolate but they call it that anyway, dipped a fork into it, and drizzled/swirled over top of brownies.

And ... Wallah!
Rosie's Fudgy Brownies.

Happy Birthday, Maxine!

I love you!
