Good Eats.

All three little Hawthornes are home this weekend so I've spent quite a bit of time in the kitchen preparing some of their favorite yummies.

First, I'm making a Tomatilla Salsa.

Here's my mise en place: cilantro, garlic, cumin, onion,
tomatillos, jalapeno, and a poblano pepper.

I put the tomatilloes and the peppers on a baking pan, drizzled with oil,
and put under the broiler.

When they're all nice and blackened, scrape them off the pan with the juices and put in a blender.

Here's my pureed tomatilloes and peppers.

Next, I chopped my onion, cilantro, and garlic.

Saute onion and garlic in a bit of oil,
then add in the cumin. Then add in the pureed mixture and heat through.

And here's my salsa.

I served some homemade tortilla chips with the tomatilla salsa and regular salsa made with peeled, seeded, and juiced tomatoes, jalapenoes, onions, and cilantro.
