Here's what it looks like, with all the wind, all the rain, and the rising waters.
This morning, I had another class in Manteo,
at the College of the Albemarle, from 9-11.
Raining cats and dogs.
Tornado warnings.
And I have to go over that big ass bridge with the wind blowing my big ass truck all over the place.
Can I just say, ZERO visibility?
Rain blowing in sheets horizontally.
I always say a prayer whenever I go over that bridge.
I hate bridges.
White Knuckles!
Oh, BTW, none of these pics are of the bridge. These are all AFTER the bridge.
I had both hands firmly ensconced on the steering wheel
whilst going across the bridge.

This was about 11:30 this morning.
I love rain and weather, but it scares me when I'm IN it, driving.

Now, check out these pictures.
About 5 PM this afternoon, we left Lucky 12 Tavern.
Colington Road, the only road to where I live, has its quirks.
These are the usual places it always floods.
We had a combination of lots of rain this morning.
Then, a fierce SW wind, which blows the water back up in the sound and into the canals.
Thus, giving us overwash.

I'll be mad at Mr P on your behalf: he wonders why you would drive in such conditions and then whether you had a designated driver. Shush, I'll punish hem for you.
ReplyDeleteAround here there is a 'scenic route' to our house that is impassable 4 months of the year since the road is 'in' the lake.
