The Squeaky Wheel Gets Greased.

At 4:54 this afternoon, nice Amy from the College of the Albemarle actually called me back like she said she would to tell me that tomorrow's event, "Learning the Secrets of Seafood" is on and she is so looking forward to seeing me there. Since I'd already canceled my tickets earlier, I went back online and re-bought them. I asked her about Saturday morning's class: Advanced Culinary Techniques For Food Service Professionals Take a step outside your current restaurant position and spend the morning exploring new or forgotten techniques. Tips & Tricks of the professional chef. Limited seats available!
Amy told me that one was good to go even if I am the only person attending. I thanked her profusely. At 4:57 this afternoon, Ben Sproul, the President of the Dare County Restaurant Association, called me to apologize for all my mental anguish and distress. I thanked him for calling and told him I wasn't writing the letter to bitch about the situation, even though I was, but I thought he would want to know my negative experience so as to avoid this problem in the future. He told me he certainly wanted to know so he could make things better. I told him that Amy had just called to tell me tomorrow's class was good to go and also Saturday's chef's class. He said he looked forward to meeting me in Saturday's class. Mr. Sproul was very nice and graciously offered me tickets (value: $40 each) to THE TASTE OF THE BEACH EXPO, which is the highlight event of the whole weekend. My tickets will be waiting for me at the door.

So now, the taste in my mouth is a bit sweeter. Moral of the story: Don't mess with Rosie. She gets shit done. Thank you, Mr. Sproul. You made nice with me. ETA: Thank you to Mr. Sproul and to Amy Huggins for being so nice and gracious and turning my negative experience into a very positive one. I have nothing but wonderful things to say now about my experience with the Outer Banks Taste of the Beach. Please stay tuned for my experiences tonight (Friday) at Kelly's Restaurant and Tavern for the wine/beer/oyster 6-course menu. Glad I wore my fat pants.
