Mr. & Mrs. Hawthorne Do Lunch.

Did I mention Dixie doesn't like vacuum cleaners?

After the trauma of the vacuum cleaner, I let Dixie sit in my chair, which she's usually not allowed to do. But since she's feeling all pitiful and hang dog and sorry for herself because of the puppy in the house I just had to let her.

Now, I know the burning question in everybody's mind is
"What did the Hawthornes have for lunch today?"

Well, Imonna tell you.

Above, I'm making a lovely butter, lemon, and caper sauce.

Mr. Hawthorne heated his cast iron pan over high heat and seared his salted and peppered tuna steaks in butter.
The steaks were about an inch thick and he cooked them for
about 1 1/2 minutes on each side.
The key is to take them off before you think they're ready.

In the meantime, I'm sauteeing asparagus spears and mushrooms - crimini, shiitake, and oyster.

And Wallah!
Perfectly seared tuna, served with a butter, lemon and caper sauce
with asparagus and mushrooms.
The tuna was delicious, flavorful, and extremely tender.

Mr. Hawthorne and Beau play together in the driveway.

Poor Dixie looks on forlornly.

Little Puppy wants to play with her big cousin.

Dixie ain't buying it.

Little Puppy Cuteness keeps making friendly overtures, but Dixie wants no part of this upstart.

Finally, someone she likes. Buster comes out to play.

Buster greets Dixie in his inimitable way.
"Yup. That's Dixie."

Dixie blatantly ignores Puppy and goes off with her peeps from the 'hood, Buster and Andy.
