Tonight's Shrimp Stir Fry Dinner.

Let's start off with cute Dixie and her Monkey.
She likes to use her stuffed animals as pillows.
Monkey is one of her favorites.

Now on to the dinner.

I decided to make a shrimp stir fry tonight.
And as is my custom, I'm making the finishing sauce first.
Bassackwards, if you will.
From top left, clockwise, I have sesame oil, soy sauce, rice vinegar, red pepper flakes,
green onion, garlic, ginger, and a bowl of toasted sesame seeds,
black sesame seeds, and brown sugar.

Mix all together in the proper proportions.
Let's see, I used about 1/4 cup soy sauce, 2 TB rice vinegar, 1 teaspoon sesame oil, 2 or 3 cloves garlic, minced, 1 small chunk ginger, minced, and some toasted sesame seeds, black sesame seeds, a chopped green onion, and some red pepper flakes.

Starting top left and continuing semi-clockwise, we have some flaccid bok choy being Viagra'd, some broccoli, some of my homemade chicken consomme in front of the corn starch, my multi-colored peppers, some toasted sesame seeds and black sesame seeds, carrot, celery, and green onion, snow peas, ginger root, garlic, and onion.

Whenever you have limp, flaccid vegggies, like celery or this bok choy, chop off the ends, and put them in cold water.

Here's part of my mise en place.
From top left, my multi-colored peppers, celery, bok choy being plumped up, carrots, broccoli, onions, and snow peas.

The rest of the mise en place.
There's the shrimp in the background.
And in front, I have the makings for my sauce:
Top left, the sesame, soy sauce, ginger garlic sauce I made earlier, then my chicken consomme I made today, next my cornstarch, then toasted sesame seeds and black sesame seeds, green onion, garlic, and ginger.

Put 'em all together.

First, I started sauteeing my carrots and broccoli.

After a minute of sauteeing in peanut oil, I go the route of the China Boys at China King. I've watched them. Pour in some water and steam the veggies the rest of the way.
Take out of the wok before they're done, place in a large bowl, and cover with a plate.

Next, I threw in my onions, celery, carrots, and peppers, along with some garlic and ginger.
Stir fry.

Finally I added my bok choy.
Transfer to the bowl.
Clean out wok with paper towel, then add more oil.

Whoot!
Toss in the shrimp!

After cooking a bit, add in the corn starch with a bit of chicken consomme added in.

Next, add in some sesame seeds.

Then add in the rest of the veggies.

And add in the soy sauce mixture.

Toss in the sesame seeds.

And plate with LEFTOVER RICE, THANKYOUVERYMUCH!
LEFTOVER RICE!

This was exceedingly yummy.

Youngest Hawthorne had come in with his Lady Friend and they consumed happily.
I went to get Mr. H.
He was in his room, watching a movie.
Quel surprise.
"Oh, I'm not really hungry right now. I'll eat later."
No shit. He'd been picking pieces off my mise en place for the entire THREE HOURS it took me to go from start to finish.
OK, not really three hours. I like to take my time.
But SHEESH! Come to the damn table when it's READY!
Is that too much to ask??????
I'm still ticked off about last night.

Ooh, I love bassackwards. That's my favorite way to act.

Psst. As usual, you put us mere mortals to shame.
