Come take a walk with me through my garden.
Mr. Hawthorne cooked dinner last night.
We had mahi mahi which he sliced and battered with
McCormick's Fish and Chips Seafood Batter Mix
and then deep fried.

Now let's take another little stroll through the garden.
And when I panned down, there was little Beau sittin' pretty among the flowers.
Now, on to lunch today.
I have my ingredients at the ready:
new potatoes, Dijon mustard, cider vinegar, Bertolli Extra Light Olive Oil,
and fresh dill out of the garden.
Oh, and thanks to Maxine for this delicious recipe.
Slowly add the olive oil (I used about 1/2 cup.) in a steady stream,
whisking the entire time until you have a nice emulsion.
After the potatoes have cooked, drain them.
Then put in a bowl and IMMEDIATELY pour some cider vinegar over them.
This is the essential part.
Lastly, pour the dressing over top the taters and sprinkle with dill.

While the potatoes are cooking, I'm preparing the dressing.
Here, I've mixed about 1 TB Dijon with 1 TB vinegar.

While I was fixing the taters, Mr. Hawthorne prepared the pork loins and asparagus.
And another lovely meal.
You really should try the potato recipe.
It's divine.

Oooh, I like that miniature variety of your foxgloves, please save me some seeds. Mine are so tall that I worry about the strong winds breaking them. I'd also like some larkspur seeds, if you can spare a few.
ReplyDeleteI have a little bunny that has thoroughly enjoyed my snow pea seedlings (I won't be harvesting any snow peas this spring), and has eaten all the leaves on several of my lilies (but hasn't touched the star gazers). He was even bold enough to appear this afternoon, sitting in the garden. When I told Katie to get the bunny rabbit she went on full alert, sniffing everywhere, but he hopped away before she saw him. However, about an hour later, I was working in my office, and she came up and placed her little purple bunny rabbit on my lap, and gave me the "did I do a good thing?" look. God, I love my dog. She can always put a smile on my face.
Miniature my ass, bitch.
