    The purple vining plants that you were asking about that are bougainvillea. When I was there, a gardener informed me that Mr. du Pont had planted two vines in that section of the greenhouse in 1921.

    I notice that they drained the reflecting pool for the lily show? Too bad because it is quite lovely when the sunken area is filled with just a couple of inches of water.

    Mar, we figgered that out. I didn't have my far-away glasses with me so I couldn't tell. Never seen that color purple bougainvillea before.

    And ditto too bad we missed the reflecting pool.
