Rosie's Doughnuts Redux.

Anyone care to guess what this is?

It's a prehistoric doughnut maker!

Imonna give it a test drive today
since I'm on a doughnut kick for Youngest Hawthorne.

I'm using the recipe on the box for vanilla doughnuts.

My ingredients:
2 1/4 cups flour
2 tsp baking powder
1 cup sugar
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp grated nutmeg
1 TB shortening
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
3/4 cup milk

Sift dry ingredients.
Add shortening.
Add eggs, vanilla, and milk.
Mix well.
Put batter in doughnut maker, extrude,
and fry about 1 minute each side at 350 degrees.

Sifted flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.

Mix vanilla and eggs.

Add eggs and vanilla to dry ingredients.

Add in milk.

Shortening in.

Mix well.

Pour batter into doughnut maker.

Fry about one minute each side,
then drain on paper towels.
Sprinkle with powdered sugar.

Doughnut #2 on the left.
Doughnut #1 on the right.

I can't pick a favorite.
Doughnut #2 might be a bit lighter.

Doughnut #1 is breadier.
I like the vanilla glaze on doughnut #1.

Doughnut #2 is lighter.
Doughnut #2 is a lot quicker and easier.

I'm just going to have to keep taste-testing
in order to sort this out.
