Breakfast At The Hawthornes'.

When I came downstairs Sunday morning, this greeted me.
Why, it's Mr. Hawthorne's mes ... eh, I meant mise en place. He was so proud of the pancakes he made, he had to not clea ... I mean, share. His batter: 1/2 cup whole wheat flour 1/2 cup buckwheat 1/2 cup bread flour 1/4 cup Splenda 1 tsp baking powder 1 cup milk 1 egg almond extract almonds banana slices Ticky, does he get points for the whole wheat and buckwheat?
Batter gets poured into melted butter.
Banana slices get placed on pancake.
And when the batter gets nice and poufy ...
... flip it.
Cook the other side and dot with some more butter.
Thank you, Mr. Hawthorne. Pretty good pancake. I especially liked the crunchy edges.
Here's Youngest Hawthorne's breakfast - toasted Arnold Sandwich thins overly cooked scrambled egg with rubber cheese (That's the way he likes it.) bacon grits He enjoyed spinning his plate so I could get my action shots.

You know, I've never had grits in my entire life. Not that I wouldn't try them...I've just never had the opportunity. I'm sure they're great, but the pancake looked awesome! I love a crispy edge too.
