$$$$$ shot.

It's Easter morning
and Rosie's making breakfast
for two big Hawthornes
and three little Hawthornes.
First, some hash brown cups.

I had Mr. Hawthorne grate the taters.

Then I put them in a towel
and squeezed as much water out of them
as I could.

Pour some melted butter over top.
Salt and pepper.

Press into buttered muffin tins.
But do a better job than I did.

I baked these at 350 for about 45 minutes,
until the potatoes started turning brown.

Then I cracked a couple of eggs in the cups
and baked about 8 minutes until set.

Here's our Easter breakfast.
Sliced Parker House rolls, buttered and toasted,
sausages and sausage gravy,
and apples, strawberry, and grapes.
Mr. Hawthorne did the sausages and gravy.
Very simple and very good gravy.
After you cook the sausages
(or bacon),
remove from pan, add maybe a tablespoon of butter,
and add a little flour (2-3 TB),
cooking and stirring, to make a roux.
Add in salt and pepper, onion powder, granulated garlic to taste,
then slowly add in milk
until you get the consistency you want.
Voila!
Gravy.

And here's my little egg cup.
With some cilantro.

Pretty, isn't it.

Eggs were perfect.

This,
I will do again.

Loved the contrast of the gooey egg
and the crunch of the potato.

Daughter Hawthorne doesn't like runny eggs,
so I poached the hell out of her egg.

Kinda reminds me of PacMan.
Kinda PacMan pukin'.
Sorry.
I know it's a food blog,
but ya jes hafta roll.
Mmmmmm.... I love a runny egg. I'm going to have to try this.
