Crab meat is one of my favoritest
things in the world to eat
and here's an appetizer we love.
This time I'm putting the
added bonus of shrimp in it.

My ingredients:
1 pound crabmeat
1 cup shrimp
about 4 ounces Brie
about 4 ounces Mozzarella
1/2 stick butter
green pepper
red onion
lemon and lime
salt and pepper

I chopped the onion and pepper
and melted the butter and cheeses.

Nice, gloppy cheese.

Gently add in the crab meat into the butter/cheese mixture.
You don't want to break the chunks of crab meat.

I decided it needed a bit more Brie.
Then just nuke it to heat it through.

For the shrimp,
I heated up equal amounts of butter and extra light olive oil
and grated some lemon zest.

Saute the shrimp until they become barely opaque.

Add in a little wine.

Add in some butter to enrich the sauce.

I added about a tablespoon each of lemon and lime juice
to the crab meat.

Here's some bread I'd made earlier.

I usually serve this appetizer in a scooped out boule,
but this time it's going on that flat loaf in the back.

First I spread the crab meat mixture onto the bread,
then placed the shrimp on top
and poured a little shrimp joos over it.

Sprinkle some red onions and green peppers over top ...

... and you have a delicious appetizer.
Succulent shrimp, delicate sweet crab meat,
rich and creamy melted cheese,
and the fresh crunch of pepper and onion.
The bread soaks up all the flavors
and is absolutely qibswedyk.

Bon appetit!
Now I'm looking at my dinner of a peanut butter & jelly sandwich and I'm just not feeling the peanutty love anymore.
ReplyDeleteThis looks fantastic. Skip the appetizer, lets just call this dinner.
ReplyDeleteWow, that does look absolutely qibswedyk.
