The Hawthornes Have A Tender Lion.

Here's our dinner the other night:
Lion, asparagus, and mashed potatoes. Mr. Hawthorne was rummaging through our freezer and came up with this tender lion. (Click on pic to enlarge.)
Someone recommended the Salamida State Fair Spiedie Sauce Marinade so we thought we'd give it a try. I checked out the label and it said, "Each bottle made individually for ingredient accuracy and quality." Ingredients list: vinegar, soybean oil, salt, black pepper, dehydrated garlic, spices, natural flavor, monosodium glutamate (to enhance flavor). NO PRESERVATIVES. NO SUGAR. NO GLUTEN. (Their caps.) Mr. Hawthorne marinated the lion overnight.
Asparagus from my garden.
Mr. Hawthorne grilled his lion for about 3-4 minutes on each side. Oiled asparagus for about 2 minutes.
And here's dindin. Grilled, marinated lion with grilled asparagus and mashed 'taters. And don't forget the carrot cake.
The lion meat was quite tender and very flavorful. Not gamy at all.
Perfectly cooked.
You can't beat just-picked asparagus.
Mashed potatoes are one of my favorite things.
Beautiful, rare, tender lion meat.
Bon appetit.

I used to manufacture silkscreens that were used by stove manufacturers to mark the back instrument panels on electric and gas stoves. One day, I finally noticed that the artwork we had been using for two years had a setting for "pork lion" on it. These folks literally made thousands of stoves a day, so for two years, stoves were marked that way, so keep your eyes open. And no, they provided the artwork.
