Sunday Dinner At Maxine's.

Last weekend, Mr. Hawthorne and I took a quick trip. He went to his annual family reunion in Basset and he dropped me off at Maxine's in Danville. Maxine and Rosie know how to have fun and we love to eat. I had brought some of my garden bounty with me along with my gremolata, my chimichurri sauce, and some extra black beans I had in the fridge which would have been fragrantly and patiently waiting for me to throw them out on my return.
For appetizers, I piled gremolata on halved cherry tomatoes.
This is so good. It screams summer to me.
Earlier, while Maxine, Carmen, and I were on the Riverwalk Trail, we were planning our dinner.
I had brought cilantro from home, Maxine had cucumber, Carmen brought an avocado, black olives, and feta.
I had brought chimichurri sauce and red onion from home and Carmen brought cooked shrimp.
Maxine had mixed greens and Carmen supplied the wraps. Rosie has a plan.
I started with a layer of mixed greens then some shrimp on the wrap.
Next, some chimichurri sauce.
Red onions and avocado slices.
Cucumber strips.
Black olives.
Feta cheese.
Cilantro.
And start rolling.
Tuck in the ends on the first full roll-over.
And roll the rest of the way.
I'd also brought with me a raita I had made - Greek yogurt, cucumber, mint, garlic, red onion.
I had brought the black beans with me from home. Maxine had fresh corn on the cob, so I sliced the corn off and sauteed it in butter, seasoning with some cumin and cilantro. I mixed the beans and corn together along with red onion, sliced tomatoes, and cilantro. Perfect on a tortilla chip.
And here are the wraps.
Lots of flavors here and all good.
Dinner at Maxine's. As always, good food, good friends, and lots of fun. And don't forget the wine.
I love Maxine's art work. It's 3-dimensional. Thanks, Maxine, for a lovely time.

Rosie, curious minds want to know... what is the copper domed thing with the cut-out in the side?

And I love your joint collaboration for the recipe.
