Thank You, Sister Hawthorne.

Sister Hawthorne called yesterday and told me about Paula Deen's recipe for Lots O' Meat Lasagna. It calls for 1 1/2 pounds ground chuck, 1 pound ground Italian sausage, a 14.5 ounce can of diced tomatoes, 2 15 ounce cans of tomato sauce, a 6 ounce can of tomato paste, 1 1/2 cups cottage cheese, (Pauler calls for the small curd. Restraint on Pauler's part? You call it.), 5 ounces Parmesan, a pound of shredded Mozzarella, and some other stuff. I just wanted you to get an idea of the poundage involved here. We're talking around 8 pounds already, and I haven't included the pasta or the eggs. This is all poured into a 9 x 13 pan. Now, here's the part I love, from Pauler's Food Network site: Total Time:
2 hr 15 min
Prep
25 min
Inactive
10 min
Cook
1 hr 40 min
Yield:
4 servings
Level:
Easy
That's 2 pounds per person. Carry on, Tony. Here's the article from the NY Post where Anthony Bourdain basically calls Pauler on her crap. And thanks again, Sister Hawthorne, for the heads up.

Two pounds.....no problem. Reminds me of when my X Sicilian mother-in-law asked me if i wanted one pound or two of boxed pasta when she cooked for me first time. Pop-in law wanted two.....Twas a long meal.
