Rosie Stir Fries.

Just to let you know, Rosie has been eating actual meals. We had a hankering for stir fry last night, so here's what I made.
I found a small fillet mignon in the freezer, let it thaw slightly, then Mr. Hawthorne made very thin slices. When you want to slice meat very thinly, let it freeze slightly, or in this case, let it thaw a bit. My other ingredients: broccoli, carrot, onion, pepper, and baby corn.
For the thickening sauce, I made a cornstarch slurry - equal parts corn starch and cold water, and I added in some Worcestershire sauce and Tamari. And that little frozen block in the cup on the left is a frozen chunk of VEAL STOCK.
First, I stir fried the broccoli.
Added in the carrots.
Add in some corn.
And the onions and peppers. Stir fry until broccoli is just barely tender. Then transfer vegetables to a bowl and cover.
Heat the wok back up, add in some oil, and toss in the meat. Now, this is beef tenderloin, so it just needs a few seconds.
I added the veggies back to the wok.
Then I added the cornstarch slurry/ Lea & Perrins/Tamari Sauce, heating through.
And my little cube of frozen VEAL STOCK went in.
Right when I was finishing up, Youngest Hawthorne came home from college, (SURPRISE!) just in time for dinner. Sticky, sushi rice and beef and veggie stir fry. And NO leftovers.
