This is what happens
when you don't pay attention
to your recipe.
Whenever I try a new recipe,
I always read it through first.
Really, I read this one through.
I just didn't pay attention.
What I was doing was starting on
the caramel layer for the previous recipe.
And instead of just bringing to a boil
the butter and sugar,
I mistakenly added the chocolate chips.
Well, I'm certainly not going to throw
out perfectly good butter, sugar, and chips.
So, I went ahead and melted everything,
while the little hamster on the wheel
in my head is just running as fast as he can.
OK, I had some stale marshmallows,
so I added 2 cups to the hot mixture.
Stir until melted.
Action shot.
More ingredients to fix my little mess:
2 eggs
1/2 cup sugar
2 cups flour
I beat the eggs,
then slowly added the sugar.
The chocolate mixture got added to the eggs and sugar.
Then I decided to mix 1/4 cup peanut butter
with 1/4 cup sugar.
And I added the peanut butter mixture to the chocolate.
The flour went in next.
I thought the batter might be a little dense,
so I beat in two more eggs.
I poured the batter
into a greased 9 x 13 pan.
And baked it in a 350 degree oven
for 25 minutes.
Finally, I sprinkled
semi-sweet chocolate chips
and brickle bits over top.
The verdict?
They were good.
Dense chocolate, almost fudginess.
With a hint of peanut butter.
Good save, Rosie.
