Monday for lunch,
Maxine, Carmen, and I
headed for Bentto Japanese Express.

I do not understand their spelling
of "Bentto,"
but whatever.
"Bento," for those who don't know,
is a
Japanese boxed lunch.
Here's their menu:

We all ordered the vegetable, chicken, and shrimp tempura.

And here's our lunch.
No not really,
but Marion just sent me the Calvin & Hobbes Bento Lunch
and I thought I'd share.

I love it when I can watch my meal being prepared.
I also ordered the house soup -
a clear, smoky-flavored broth
with mushrooms and scallions.

Here's my tempura.
Fried broccoli, sweet potato, zucchini, onion,
chicken, and shrimp,
served with a mild soy dipping sauce.
The tempura was excellent.
And no.
I didn't eat the whole thing.
Brought Maxine's and my leftovers
home to Youngest Hawthorne
who enjoyed it for lunch on Tuesday.
I'll be back and try something different next time.
You are making me hungry!
