Disguised Leftovers.

Hi,
I was wondering how your new kitchen is actually working out for you. Could you do a blog entry that shows us? Please?
Love,
x

OK folks, this is an actual email sent to me. And I will answer "x" right now. This is how the kitchen works out. Mr. Hawthorne and I WORK GREAT IN IT. We work off of each other and we have space to do what we want. IT WORKS! But most of all, WE work together. That's the most important thing. You need to work with your partner. And Mr. H. and I are partners.

But of course, I always do more than he. And I keep count.

The other night I fixed pork chops for the family and had a couple of chops left over. I thinly sliced the meat, added a bit of cumin and cayenne pepper, then heated it up with sliced onions and green peppers from the garden.

In the meantime, Mr. Hawthorne cooked some Zatarain's New Orleans style Black Beans and Rice. He added a few chops of red jalapeno pepper from the garden.

I fried up some corn and flour tortillas.

Mr. Hawthorne chopped some iceberg lettuce.

And ... Wallah!
Tortilla, with spicy black beans and rice, with sliced pork, peppers, and onions, with a topping of chopped lettuce, my homemade salsa, and some sour cream.

This pork was very good the first time but was definitely better the second time around.
