Mr. Hawthorne Stir Fries Our Lunch.

You know how much Rosie loves her stir fries. Mr. Hawthorne is doing the honors today.
Start out with about a pound of peeled and de-veined shrimp.
Here's Mr. Hawthorne's mise en place: shredded carrots broccoli red pepper celery red onion water chestnuts garlic the last snow peas from my garden
I'm making the sauce thickener. I added a cup of cold water to a teaspoon of chicken base and a tablespoon of cornstarch.
Add in about 2 TB of soy sauce.
Mr. Hawthorne heated oil in the wok on high heat and added in the minced garlic. 12:33
Broccoli, snow peas, red onions in. 12:33
Stir ...
... fry.
Carrots, celery, red onion, and water chestnuts. 12:34
When this is smokin' hot, Mr. Hawthorne adds in some water so the veggies can steam. 12:34
Some Tamari in. 12:35
Make a well in the wok and add the shrimp. 12:36
When the shrimp is not quite done (slightly gray, not all the way pink) ...
... add in the cornstarch/chicken base thickener down the side of the hot wok. 12:38
Serve on a bed of rice. 12:40
I chiffonaded some basil and sprinkled that over top.
Youngest Hawthorne asked, "What's that crunch?" Water chestnut, Grasshopper.
Excellent job, Mr. Hawthorne.
